Restoration projects often call for replacement features that stay in keeping with the existing property. By using a number of original samples, typically six or eight, moulds can be produced together to help keep costs down.
Using originals as patterns also reproduces the ageing that has taken place, helping replacements sit naturally in place. The pattern shop can clean up and make good worn originals before moulding, creating castings that may not be available off the shelf.
